Survey reveals more men are seeking alimony from ex-wives
A survey conducted by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers among their 1,600 members revealed that 47% had observed a surge in the number of men receiving spousal support from their ex-wives, a report by Reuters published December 24 stated.
Matrimonial lawyers believe the change is brought about by a shift in the couple’s economic roles, where women are increasingly becoming primary household breadwinners while more men tend to stay at home.
Some experts also believe it is easier for divorced fathers with children to seek alimony from their ex-wives, although the number of men without kids receiving alimony has also been on the rise recently.
