FBI halts China-bound flight over child custody battle
On Thursday, September 4, the FBI halted a plane bound for Beijing after learning that a mother allegedly tried take her child out of the country without the father’s consent, the CBS News reported.
The father, whose name was not revealed, appealed to authorities in order to prevent the mother from leaving the country with their son. He says that he was concerned that she would not return, forcing a difficult and “protracted international custody battle.” Five hours after departing, United Airlines Flight 897 returned to Dulles International Airport in Virginia.
The mother, whose identity was also left undisclosed, was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping. Meanwhile, the child was reunited with his father.
