How does conservatorship differ from custody in Texas?

Conservatorship and the term custody are effectively the same. In Texas, the family code doesn't use the word custody. They talk in terms of conservatorship. There are basically four main areas that that are resolved when dealing with the conservator, who is the primary, who has custody. Those are basically certain exclusive rights and duties, generally the right to receive child support and how much who has what time with the child or how you address the medical insurance for the child, including medical expenses that are outside of the coverage of the health insurance. So effectively the same thing, different terminology. Everybody uses the term custody, but in Texas, it's really dealing with conservatorship.
