A native of The Woodlands, Elyse Norman traveled the world and explored different career paths. She concluded that she belonged practicing law right here in the Houston area.

Elyse went to the northeast for college, attending prestigious Dartmouth College in the Ivy League. Her studies began with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a minor in education. What studying in those fields did was cultivate an appreciation for research and the importance of expressing it well in writing. Those skills are the foundation for any successful lawyer. Considering that, led Elyse to pursue a law degree in her post-graduate work.

She also continued to see other parts of the country. A nationwide application process was narrowed to Wake Forest University, located in North Carolina. And it was that time at Wake Forest that led Elyse to a defining moment that shaped her outlook on what the law meant.

Elyse worked as a student attorney in the university’s Elder Law Clinic. It was work that brought her into contact with people who needed help with estate planning and probate issues. These were also people that were low-income. Being able to work with clients like these and bring them at least the peace of mind that their legal affairs were in order was immensely fulfilling. Elyse subsequently went on to spend six years living in Qatar.

What all of that experience, along with serving as a representative in the Student Bar Association, did was cultivate a desire for a legal career that had real face-to-face contact with people. The research and writing that Elyse excels at are the foundation–the journey with real people is what makes that hard work worthwhile.

Family law proved an ideal blending of Elyse’s talents, and she welcomes the opportunity to talk to those facing legal challenges on personally sensitive issues. When you talk to Elyse Norman, you’re talking to an attorney who knows how to blend studious legal preparation with real human compassion.

Outside of the office, Elyse continues with her compassionate work, in providing a foster home for rescue dogs.
